Overview
Before Apple Intelligence launched, I envisioned an AI chatbot addressing emotional and practical user needs primarily through Apple Wallet and Apple Album. Features include memory retrieval via detailed photo searches, real-life encounter triggers, and financial tools like expense predictions, real-time advice, and milestone rewards. To encourage mindful spending, the AI provides phone call alerts or glowing light cues, seamlessly integrating into Apple’s ecosystem.
Timeline: 2023.10 - 2023.12
Project Type: Individual UX Design Project
Tool: Miro, Procreate, Figma
Skill: Secondary research, Survey, User flow, Ideation, Storyboard, Low & High-fidelity prototyping, and evaluation.
How might we question

Research
According to a study by Accenture, AI technologies have the potential to increase productivity by up to 40%.
According to a study by IBM, AI-powered chatbots can resolve up to 80% of routine customer inquiries, improving customer service efficiency.
The recent ChatGPT developer conference emphasizes the trend of customizing AI for personal interests and adapting to user habits, signaling potential market demand.
Background
In this context, Applegpt emerges as an innovative project set to redefine user experiences within the Apple ecosystem.
Lack of Polished Performance: Siri falls short of Apple's reputation for polished products and services.
Limited Functionality: Siri is criticized for not being able to perform as many tasks as its rival voice assistants
Reminder Misunderstanding: Siri failed to fulfill a specific request to set a reminder for a COVID booster, instead of providing relevant web results, showcasing a fundamental breakdown in executing core functions accurately.
Current APPLE SIRI
Current AI Approaches
I designed a survey to gauge opinions on the Apple ecosystem and attitudes toward Artificial Intelligence.
The survey collected data from 43 participants: 15 students and 28 office workers using iOS.
Survey
Summarized Perspectives of Different Demographics
I recorded, organized, and summarized key insights through recording all the survey answers with affinity grouping.
Key Insights
Empowering users with the choice to selectively share information.
Creating a unified network of interconnected data that caters to diverse behaviors is crucial for achieving comprehensive efficiency.
Users desire AI to serve as a centralized control center for efficient management of various information types. The ability of AI to visualize diverse information and verify reliable sources is greatly appreciated.
Product Opportunity
By asking how might we question based on previous survey insights, I did affinity grouping again for finding the product requirements and core design question to be solved.
Product Requirements:
Efficient Information Management: The AI system should efficiently manage and visualize various information types, creating a cohesive overview for users.
User Behavior Adaptation and information safety: Users should have control over selectively sharing information with AI to ensure data privacy and personalized assistance.
Real-time Insights and Decision-making: AI should provide users with real-time insights derived from their data, aiding in strategic decision-making across work and personal domains.
User-driven Interconnectivity: AI should automatically connect related information across apps and devices, helping users discover new knowledge and insights.
Concept Development
Ideation
I generated 20 creative ideas, conducted affinity grouping based on shared core values, aligned them with the main super pog and product requirements to assess importance, and then prioritized them accordingly.
I identified the main features and created corresponding storyboards for each, concluding with three envisioned features.
AppleGPT Memories: Users recall photos through scene, clothing, pose, or object descriptions, triggering searches by recreating details or directly asking AppleGPT. Real-life encounters with friends or specific locations can also evoke related memories.
AppleGPT Wallet: Apple GPT predicts expenses, offers real-time advice, recommends limits for financial awareness, and rewards career milestones for enhanced motivation and recognition.
AppleGPT Weather: User received personalized weather alerts from Applegpt based on their commute patterns, ensuring preparedness for potential changes.
Utilizing the three features, I designed and created three storyboards to guide a clearer user flow.
Storyboard
Mobile Prototype
User Flow
I created multiple designs for a floating button to access AppleGPT within the app and ultimately selected the one that aligns seamlessly with the design style of the Apple ecosystem.
